Symbol - Future generation

Hello. As you can see, I finished my symbol! My theme is Future Generations. Why did I choose this topic? I want to give an impact the world about what our children, grandchildren, children of our grandchildren about their suffering towards global warming if we don't stop it soon.

What is my symbol suppose to be? A candle-shaped baby being lit up. You can see by the melty-ness of the candle, as if the candle is fading, going extinct soon...

The hidden message? The meltyness is suppose to represent how our future generation will melt off - extinct, poof, melt away and be gone forever - in the future if we don't do something. The baby's hands were clutching together tightly as if trying to fight off the global warming, and the legs looks like they're about to stand up and fight off. Be shameful, you're letting your children, children's children, grandchildren's children to take care of our mess! And what if they fail to get up, and fail to go on? Let go, fall onto the floor and begone, forever? What if, just what if...

Our future generation WILL extinct if we don't stop this madness!

Explanation ;

SYMBOL DRAWING

Baby - To represent the future generation
Girl - Well, girls are the one who produce/nurture our future generation, a mother, so I chose a girl.
Hand clutching together - To show their suffering/struggling for the world, usually humans will tend to clutch and shut themselves up when they're afraid or scared, eh?
Flame - Global warming, the heat from global warming, right on top of our future generation. Well, the sun is above us, thus the heat comes from above us too.
Flame shine - The sunshine, or the sun in general. Global warming are somewhat caused by the heatness of the sun in some way, right?

COLORS
Red, yellow, orange - colors of the flame; color mixture of anger, fear, hatred
Grey - Grey is the colour that means unworthiness. The baby is unworthy and unhelpful, hopeless against the global warming and heat torture.
White - Color of innocence, in some way, the baby is innocent, it didn't cause global warming ; we did, and guess what, it has to suffer for what we're doing! Shameful.

Process of making my symbol on illustrator! :'D

Okay so I have done my symbol, finally! Here's the step on how I did my symbol~

Firstly,
I drew some parts with pen tool and pencil tool, kinda like a mixture to test out the pens, ya' see? For additional info, The top part of the face (left) is done with pen tool, and the rest is pencil, I'm more used to pencil tool. As you can see, this is the shape of a baby, a representative of our future generations.

Secondly,
Ta dah! 2nd layer! I added in baby's hair, and the hair looks melty-ish to make the baby look candle-ish. Well, she is suppose to be a candle.

Thirdly,
Added the 1st part of the fire, I used gradient tool on the fire to make it look more realistic.

And so,
And yeah, I did gradient-y part for each other flame colours in the flame too, in different layer to prevent it from overlapping each other. That's afterall, the use of layers, right? I also added gradient-y on the candle baby girl to make it look more realistic.

Then,
Nothing much here, added more gradient-y on candle baby.

Next,
This is the tricky part. I used blending on my pencil lines to make the colours mix in such a way it shows a very different kind of gradient colours, it does look like the baby is melting in a way, doesn't it?. How to blend? Object > Blend > Blend Options > Specified steps > set number > Blend. ;) I love this trick, though.

Almost there,
And so I use the same blending trick on the fire shining thingie, with the Ellipse tool.

Conclusion,
And I move it into the middle.

Simple? Explanation of symbol will be done on the post.

Symbol sketches

Sweet! Finally I have my own scanner, thus, I can scan all my stuff in the nick of time. :P

No, you need a passport to borrow my scanner. Muahaha.

Anyway, sketches sketches!

My flame and baby tree sketch practice is also here as you can see.

Alright, time for symbol explanation!

Baby & flame 1 - As you can see, it's a candle-baby. Fire represents the global warming heat fire thingie, yeah you get it. As for the baby-shaped candle, basically it shows the baby is being burnt and melting bit by bit. Our future generation will take the suffering, and will die out 1 by 1 if we don't do something. As for the baby's hands, they're clutching on together, bearing the heat and suffering for what we are doing.

Baby & flame 2 - My original 1st idea on the symbol, a baby crying due to being burnt. As mentioned, fire = global warming, and the baby, crying due to suffering the heat and sicknesses caused by global warming. Hand clutching together due to pain, suffering, bearing it all, and in a position in such a way that will make us think, "will they stand up and make it and fight global warming? Or will they fall back down and give up, forever?"

Baby & flame 3 - Something like baby & flame 2, only that the baby (future generation) gives up and dies off, not fighting the heat. Human will extinct if we don't do anything. Mostly sadistic and a direct message/scolding to the world.

Girl, guy, love, tree - A happy symbol for once, as I said, I took up Mdm. Koo's advice and did something less dramatic and scary since everyone is opting for that option, and basically represents little boy and girl of our future generation, holding up a tree, smiling and helping to save the world by planting more greens on the earth, with a heart to show their love for the world, and a string connecting them to show their bondings and their unity. :D

I did do a small, sketchy sketchy of baby & flame 1 on Adobe Illustrator for a bit.

You can say it's a rough sketch with Illustrator. I will re-do it if Mdm. Koo approves.

Until then, ta ta!

Baby sketch practice

This is, so far my sketch and practice for babies. I did it in such a cutesy, innocent, baby-ish way to show that they ARE, in fact, innocent, and we should be ashamed of ourselves for letting them suffer for what we are doing now.

Will they be able to turn the world around for the better?

If they can't, what would happen to THEM?

Example : The symbol of the baby laying down on it's back. Will it be able to stand up and endure/change global warming? If not, what would befallen upon them?

Possible topics and reference pictures

I am to do a symbol on the topic - Global Warming, and I am to search for a smaller sub-topic to draw a symbol on, and to search for reference pictures.

I have decided on "The future generations", as in, what is the effect of Global Warming towards our future generations, our kids, the ones who are suppose to continue on living in the world. What will happen to them? Do you want them to suffer for what we are doing now?

Okay, I better not rant on or this whole post will be very angsty and out-of-topic. Anyway, here are some reference pictures I found and may use them for my symbol.

A baby is the best representative of the future generation, so I decided to use it as a part of my symbol. It is innocent and doesn't know what's going on in the world.

As for the second object that I thought of combining into as a symbol, a flame. Flame represents hotness, burning of global warming. Warning, warning, building on fire, please evacuate...

UPDATE...

I got a wee-bit of advice from Mdm Koo during tutorial lesson last week, and got a new idea for my new symbol sketch.

Baby trees!

Only 1 reference pic used, though...
